Emily has dark skin, a mother who comes from far away and she is easily embarrassed. When she is embarrassed, she giggles. Lucrezia is blonde and very serious, her father, who died a few years ago in Nassiriya, is a national hero. Rebecca has deep eyes and two parents who often argue in front of her. She does not want to be famous, in order not to run the risk of disappointing someone. Emily, Lucrezia and Rebecca are ten years old and model children, busy with school and casting sessions. Chiara Brambilla describes the small, exposed and fragile world of three girls who play with make-up and shoes that are too big for them, who quickly learn their part in front of the photographer and who know that "being an adverts earns a lot of money". If we were to ask them: "When does childhood end?", they would answer very naturally: "When you are taller than one metre 40."

Emily ha la pelle scura, una mamma che viene da lontano, e si imbarazza facilmente. Quando è imbarazzata, ride. Lucrezia è bionda ed è molto seria, suo papà è un eroe nazionale, morto a Nassiriya qualche anno fa. Rebecca ha occhi profondi e due genitori che discutono spesso di fronte a lei. Non vuole diventare famosa, per non correre il rischio di deludere qualcuno. Emily, Lucrezia e Rebecca hanno dieci anni e sono modelle bambine, impegnate con la scuola e i casting. Chiara Brambilla racconta il piccolo mondo esposto e fragile di tre bambine che giocano con i trucchi e scarpe troppo grandi, che imparano velocemente la parte di fronte al fotografo, che sanno che 'fare pubblicità fa guadagnare tanti soldi'. Se domandassimo: 'Quando finisce l'infanzia?', con naturalezza risponderebbero: 'Quando superi il metro e quaranta.'
